Fr. Nonso Ohanaka
frohanaka@universitycatholic.org

Fr O grew up in Nashville and is excited to serve as Chaplain of University Catholic. Born in Nigeria, Fr. Chukwunonso moved to the United States with his family when he was five years old. While Nashville has always been home, he also spent four years attending boarding school in Nigeria during middle and high school, giving him a deep appreciation for both of his cultures.
A graduate of MNPS Middle College High School, Fr. Chukwunonso was studying Physics at Austin Peay State University when he discerned God’s call to the priesthood and entered the seminary. He was ordained to the priesthood on May 28, 2022, for the Diocese of Nashville. Before joining University Catholic, Fr. Chukwunonso served as Chaplain at John Paul II Preparatory School. He grew up as a parishioner at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Nashville, where his faith first took root.
Fr. Chukwunonso enjoys playing sports—especially soccer—and loves connecting with people from different cultures. English is his first language, and he also enjoys speaking Spanish, Igbo, and Korean. He is passionate about accompanying young adults as they grow in their relationship with Christ and discover God’s plan for their lives.
Fr. Chukwunonso looks forward to getting to know the students, faculty, and staff of our campus community and welcomes everyone to journey with University Catholic.
