Who are we?
University Catholic is a community of fun-loving, joy-filled students who are serious about our faith. We are officially represented at Vanderbilt and Belmont Universities, but all Nashville-area college students are welcome at our Masses, events, retreats and mission trips.
Representing every area of student life, University Catholic unites us in fellowship and friendship as we deepen our personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Our chaplain is devoted to making the Sacraments readily available and serving the students’ spiritual needs. FOCUS missionaries, who are recent college graduates, reach out and meet students where they are.

Belmont student, @nataliax_hernandez spent her summer traveling to see beautiful cathedrals in Europe. These two are in Austria. St. Stephan’s cathedral in Vienna, Austria and Belvedere Palace Chapel in Vienna, Austria.

“Hey everyone! I’m Sam Stremlau, and this summer I’ve had the chance to travel and play bass for my great friend Henry Bitzer. We are both part of the UCAT community through Belmont. We started playing music together a few years ago as freshman living on the same floor of our dorm hall! Music has brought us all over this summer from Iowa to Wisconsin, with more shows coming up in Minnesota, North Carolina, and of course Nashville. Music has been such an integral part of each of our faith journeys, so we are excited to jam with everyone at Frass again in the fall!”

Lipscomb student, @louisetyrrellford spent this summer as a Totus Tuus missionary.
“Totus Tuus is a catechesis program for 1-12 graders. We as missionaries are committed to daily mass, holy hour, liturgy of the hours, a rosary, and a divine mercy chaplet. It is long hours but a very fruitful program. We are teaching the kids the Ten Commandments and luminous mysteries this year and it has been amazing so far!”

Belmont student, @nicole.howe1 started her summer hiking el Camino de Santiago with a group of Catholic young adults then came back to the states to serve the poor through relational ministry in Philadelphia as a Christ in the City missionary.
“Relational Ministry is befriending the poor. We walk the same streets of Philadelphia encountering our friends on the streets. We are also a faith formation program so we have structured daily prayer, mass, classes, and trainings!” - @nicole.howe1
